Delete your account and data

How to ask for your Burgo account and data to be deleted by email, what is deleted, what is kept and how long it takes.

Summary

You can ask us to delete your account and data at any time, without installing anything. Today the process is by email and manual. The button to delete the account from inside the app and automatic export of your data are in preparation (phase 2) and do not exist yet.

Steps today

  1. Write to dev@burgo.dev from your account email, with the subject “Delete my account”.
  2. Say whether you want to delete everything or only the data of one app (for example, only Brío) without closing the account.
  3. We will reply to confirm it is you (for example, with a reply from that same email). We will never ask for your password.
  4. If you want a copy of your data before it is deleted, ask for it in the same message. Where possible we prepare it on request; there is no guaranteed deadline today.
  5. We will confirm by email once the request is registered. We reply within 30 days at most.

What happens next

  • 30-day grace period: your account is deactivated and you can ask us to reactivate it. After that, deletion is final.
  • Backups: deleted data disappears from backups as they rotate, within 35 days at most.
  • Shared messages and expenses: what other people need to keep (for example, a group’s history or a debt noted by the other party) is kept pseudonymised: your name is replaced by “Deleted user”.
  • Audit and moderation records: kept for up to 1 year with the minimum data necessary, for accountability and security.
  • Brío health data: deleted entirely; not even kept pseudonymised.
  • Cabal: if you have a business, its customers’ data is decided by the business; see the processing agreement. If you are a business’s customer and want your data deleted, ask the business first; if you cannot, write to us.

What we keep even if you ask

What a law or an order from a competent authority requires us to keep, and the minimum needed to stop your account reappearing when a backup is restored (a marker with no personal data).

⚖️ Pending lawyer review. What data must be kept by law (for example, invoicing) and retention periods against an erasure request.

What is in preparation

A “Delete account” button inside each app with re-authentication, deletion of a single app, export as JSON and CSV with a 24-hour link and a log of requests with deadlines. When they exist, this page will say so.
